MANILA, Philippines – The Global Tourism Business Association (GTBA) has welcomed its new Board of Trustees for 2025, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the Philippine travel and tourism sector.
The newly appointed board, led by President Michelle G. Taylan, took their oath on February 10, 2025, at the Department of Tourism (DOT), with Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco presiding over the induction ceremony. The board includes Vice President Virgincita Migrino, Vice President for Outbound Marites Cuan, Secretary Carmelite Bermudez, Treasurer Flora Caberte, Auditor Lani Cruz, Public Relations Officer Elaine Garcia De Rueda, and Assistant Secretary Meyn Limos Quiray.
In her address, Taylan expressed her gratitude for the dedication of the board members, emphasizing their vital role in strengthening the tourism industry.
“We are privileged to have such a dynamic and passionate team year after year. These individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes to elevate the sector, ensuring that stakeholders maximize their potential while bridging the gap between service providers and travelers,” she said.

Taylan also extended her appreciation to Secretary Frasco and various government agencies, embassies, and local and international tourism organizations for their continuous support of GTBA’s initiatives. The board reaffirmed its commitment to actively participate in DOT’s programs and projects, both locally and internationally.
“Our honorable secretary has been an unwavering source of guidance and support, and we are deeply grateful. GTBA’s progress would not have been possible without the assistance of Secretary Frasco and the entire DOT,” Taylan added.
Strengthening Global Ties
GTBA will soon kick off its flagship international event, the B2B Global Travel Exchange and Roadshow, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from February 19-23, 2025. The event, aligned with DOT’s and the Tourism Promotions Board’s (TPB) global initiatives, will bring together approximately 200 delegates from the Philippines, Malaysia, and other participating countries for networking and business opportunities in travel and tourism.
Honoring a Tourism Champion
During the oath-taking ceremony, Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco was recognized as the World Tourism Icon of the Year. The award, presented by GTBA President Michelle Taylan, Malaysia’s Ambassador H.E. Malik Melvin Castelino, and Indonesia’s Ambassador H.E. Agus Widjojo, celebrates Frasco’s outstanding contributions to Philippine tourism.
“Secretary Frasco has showcased the best of the Philippines to the world, fostering cultural exchange, sustainable tourism, and economic growth. She has truly elevated Philippine tourism on the global stage and set new standards for excellence in the industry,” Taylan remarked.

Upcoming Travel Sale Expo
Looking ahead, GTBA is set to host the third edition of its Travel Sale Expo from September 26-28, 2025, at SM Megamall’s Megatrade Hall. With the theme “Your Gateway to the World,” the expo will officially launch in Malaysia on February 20, 2025. The event will feature around 200 exhibitors from airlines, hotels, tour operators, and cruise lines, offering exclusive deals and discounts to participants.
With a strong leadership team in place, GTBA is poised to drive further growth and innovation in the Philippine tourism sector in 2025.
