Lanson Place Mall of Asia Celebrates Filipino Culinary Heritage with “Gateway to Manila: Three Islands, Endless Stories”

This season, Lanson Place Mall of Asia invites guests to rediscover the Philippines through its most compelling language: food. At Bytes, the hotel’s all-Filipino dining destination, Gateway to Manila: Filipino Heritage Dishes unfolds as a limited-time, rotating à la carte experience that celebrates the depth, diversity, and evolving story of Filipino cuisine.

At the heart of the experience is Manila as a gateway—not only geographically but also historically. As a key port in the centuries-long Manila–Acapulco Galleon Trade, the city became a vital crossroads where ingredients, techniques, and traditions flowed between Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Spices, cacao, corn, and tomatoes from the New World met Chinese noodles, Malay influences, and Spanish culinary traditions—many of which eventually found their way onto Filipino tables.

Today, Manila’s culinary identity remains a melting pot of these global influences, shaped by the regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and refined through centuries of cultural exchange. This rich heritage forms the foundation of Bytes’ latest concept.

Running from May 15 to July 15, the campaign presents “Three Islands. Endless Stories.”—a thoughtfully curated journey across the Philippines, where each dish reflects regional identity, local ingredients, and time-honored techniques, reimagined for today’s table.

A Modern Take on Heritage

At Bytes, tradition is not simply preserved—it is refined, reinterpreted, and shared. The menu features elevated yet approachable dishes designed for discovery and conversation. Familiar favorites take on new life through contemporary presentation while staying true to their roots, many carrying subtle traces of global influences shaped by centuries of trade.

Highlights from the menu include:

  • Beef Short Rib Kare-Kare with Bagoong Flatbread — a rich, slow-cooked classic paired with a modern accompaniment.
  • Suam na Mais with Bagnet and Poached Shrimp — a comforting Northern staple layered with texture and flavor.
  • Papaitan with Grilled Glazed Sweet Potato — bold Ilocano flavors balanced by subtle sweetness.
  • Chicken Inasal Skewers — smoky, vibrant, and perfect for casual indulgence.
  • La Paz Batchoy — a Visayan icon that is hearty and deeply satisfying.
  • Sikwate & Puto Maya — a nostalgic Southern pairing reimagined with elegant simplicity.

Designed for Today’s Dining Culture

Gateway to Manila embraces a casual yet curated dining format, allowing guests to explore the menu at their own pace. Each dish is crafted to encourage a social dining experience that reflects the Filipino tradition of gathering around food.

Beyond flavor, the experience is story-driven, with each plate offering a glimpse into the Philippines’ role in a broader global narrative. The result is a menu that feels both grounded and forward-looking, aligning with Lanson Place’s commitment to cultural relevance and modern hospitality.

A Celebration of Place

Located at the heart of Manila’s dynamic lifestyle hub, Lanson Place Mall of Asia continues to position itself as a gateway—not only to the city but also to meaningful local experiences. Through Bytes, the hotel brings Filipino cuisine into sharper focus, presenting it as both deeply rooted and globally connected.
