Haier Turns Abenson Greenhills Flagship Store into a ‘Home of Possibilities’

Haier Philippines and Abenson transformed the Abenson Greenhills Flagship Store in San Juan into a “Home of Possibilities,” bringing together smart home innovations, interactive experiences, category KOLs, and live entertainment highlighted by a special performance from Yeng Constantino, all in one afternoon designed around the way Filipino families live today.

Rather than presenting appliances as stand-alone products, the launch showed how technology can fit naturally into everyday routines — from keeping food fresher and cooling rooms more intelligently to simplifying laundry, creating a bigger entertainment experience, and making home cooking more versatile.

Freshness took the spotlight with the Haier Horizon Refrigerator, designed with advanced technologies that help preserve food quality and freshness. Pure Space Ice keeps the ice-making system separate from other compartments for cleaner, odor-free ice and water, while NutriBank uses magnetic control to help keep meat fresh for up to five times longer. ABT Pro also helps eliminate up to 99.99% of bacteria and odors, supporting a cleaner refrigerator environment while preserving the natural taste and freshness of food.

Home cooling became more intuitive with Haier’s AI Voice Air Conditioner. Voice Control, AI Eco, UVC Sterilization, Wi-Fi Control, and I-FEEL are designed to make comfort easier to manage while helping the system respond more intelligently to changing cooling needs.

For laundry, Haier introduced the Iris Top Load Washing Machine, featuring Double Drive Technology for a tangle-free wash that helps protect garments and reduce fabric twisting. Its Essence Wash system premixes water and detergent for faster, more efficient cleaning, while Fresh Air Deodorization keeps laundry fresh for up to 12 hours after the cycle. The Scent+ feature enhances and preserves fabric softener fragrance for a longer-lasting fresh scent. Powered by a durable Direct Motion Motor, Iris delivers powerful cleaning with convenient everyday fabric care.

Haier Philippines and Abenson celebrate the launch of the “Home of Possibilities” at the Abenson Greenhills Flagship Store, bringing together smart home innovations, interactive experiences, and entertainment designed for the modern Filipino home.

Entertainment took center stage with Haier’s 100-inch Mini LED TV, bringing a larger-than-life viewing experience to the home. Powered by UltraSense AI, the TV intelligently optimizes picture and sound based on content and viewing conditions. Its expansive 4K Mini LED display, ultra-smooth 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Google TV, hands-free voice control, and Audio Powered by KEF come together to deliver an immersive cinematic experience — whether for blockbuster movies, live sports, gaming, or everyday streaming.

In the kitchen, Haier’s Cooking Range highlighted flexible cooking through its AirFrying Function, convection assistance, and multiple burner options, giving home cooks more ways to prepare everyday meals while balancing convenience and safety.

The launch extended beyond the product displays. Category KOLs brought the appliances to life through demonstrations and lifestyle interactions, while a Haier x PBA basketball arcade experience added a playful, high-energy element for guests. A special live musical performance capped the experience with an entertainment highlight for media, partners, and VIP guests.

For Haier and Abenson, the event reaffirmed a strong partnership built on a shared goal: bringing better home experiences to Filipino families. By combining Abenson’s “Bringing the good life to every Filipino home” with Haier’s “Home of Possibilities,” both brands continue to make smart and innovative living more accessible.

Say Hello to Compose Coffee, the Korean Brand Bringing Quality Coffee Within Reach

Compose Coffee PH Branch in Market! Market!, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig.

Compose Coffee has officially opened its first Philippine branch at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City.

A favorite among coffee and non-coffee drinkers in South Korea, the brand has built its reputation on serving quality beverages, generous portions, and great value, proving that enjoying good coffee does not have to come at a premium.

This new store marks the brand’s third international location outside South Korea, following its successful launch in Taiwan earlier this year.

According to Jollibee Group’s Allan Tan, Business Development Head of Compose Coffee Philippines, the team was inspired to bring the brand to the country because coffee has become more than just a caffeine fix for Filipinos.

“We are excited and proud to bring Compose Coffee to the Philippines because we know that for many, it is where mornings begin, routines become a highlight, and friends catch up. Whether you are a coffee enthusiast or someone who enjoys the occasional sweet, refreshing drink, we are confident there is a drink at Compose Coffee that is just your type,” said Tan.

While Compose Coffee has gained attention for its rapid growth and partnership with BTS’ V, what truly made the brand a favorite is its belief that good coffee should be accessible to everyone.

By combining quality ingredients, carefully crafted beverages, and affordable prices, Compose Coffee has redefined what a value coffee experience can be.

Allan Tan, Compose Coffee Philippines Business Development Head

Meet Compose Coffee

The brand’s story began in Busan, South Korea, in 2014 with a simple mission: to make high-quality coffee more accessible to everyone. Today, it has grown into South Korea’s second-largest value coffee chain, known for serving quality beverages without the premium price tag.

Behind every cup is the brand’s commitment to quality. In 2016, Compose Coffee established its first in-house roasting facility before opening the country’s largest coffee roasting factory in 2022.

This allowed the brand to produce its signature Bitterholic Blend in-house, ensuring consistency and quality in every cup.

Planning Your First Visit? Start With These Drinks

At Compose Coffee, there is a drink to match every craving and preference. From bold espresso classics to creamy lattes and refreshing non-coffee options, there is something on the menu that is just your type.

Here are some drinks you should not miss on your first visit.

Of course, no visit to a Korean coffee brand is complete without trying one of Korea’s most iconic coffee orders: Iced Americano (PHP 90). The brand’s version features bold espresso over ice, delivering a nutty profile with bittersweet chocolate notes—a classic choice for those who enjoy their coffee strong and straightforward.

If you are not into bold coffee flavors but still want to live out your K-drama fantasies, you may want to try Orange Americano (PHP 150), a Philippine-exclusive offering. Bright orange citrus meets bold espresso, creating a refreshing cup that is perfect for warm afternoons.

If you prefer your coffee smooth, creamy, and comforting, Vienna Cream Latte (PHP 160) is a must-try. This bold café latte is topped with Compose Coffee’s signature silky cream, creating a rich, velvety texture that balances the espresso’s boldness.

But if you enjoy a sweeter coffee experience, Dalgona Latte (PHP 170) offers a delightful twist on a café classic. Finished with a generous layer of crunchy, caramelized dalgona, every sip offers a satisfying blend of sweet, creamy, and bold flavors—definitely a treat for those with a sweet tooth.

Staying true to its promise of making great-tasting coffee accessible, all beverages are served in a generous 20-ounce size, giving customers more coffee and even greater value in every cup.

More Than Just a Coffee Shop

Beyond its signature beverages, Compose Coffee hopes to become a new coffee spot where Filipinos can create their own coffee rituals—whether it is a quick morning pick-me-up, an afternoon work break, or a catch-up session with friends.

As the brand begins its journey in the Philippines, it sets its sights on becoming a familiar part of Filipinos’ daily coffee routines.

“We believe great coffee should be exactly as it should be—consistently delicious, accessible, and something everyone can enjoy every day. From our signature Bitterholic Blend and carefully crafted beverages to our affordable prices and fast service, every part of the Compose Coffee experience is designed to make quality coffee an easy part of our customers’ daily routine,” said Nicole Tan, Marketing Manager.

Whether you are a coffee enthusiast, a curious first-time visitor, or simply missing a taste of Seoul, Compose Coffee invites you to discover a drink that is just your type.

PlayTime Esports Conquers Games of the Future 2026, Claims US$350,000 Championship Prize

PlayTime Esports has captured the Games of the Future 2026 Dota 2 Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, defeating China’s Yakult Brothers in a commanding 3–0 Grand Final sweep to claim the tournament title and its US$350,000 (approximately ₱20 million) first-place prize.

The victory, which came from a US$1 million total prize pool, marks a major milestone for PlayTime Esports and caps a remarkable turnaround for an organization that endured repeated setbacks, roster challenges and a devastating disqualification from the Esports World Cup 2026 before ultimately conquering one of the world’s biggest international esports competitions.

The Games of the Future is a global multi-sport event that brings together traditional sports, gaming and esports in a “phygital” competition. This year’s event in Astana featured more than 800 competitors representing over 50 nationalities across multiple disciplines.

From Setbacks to the World Stage

PlayTime Esports’ road to the championship was anything but straightforward.

The organization initially sought to build an all-Filipino Dota 2 team, but repeated failures in qualification rounds prevented the squad from breaking into major international Tier 1 competitions. Management eventually decided to pursue a broader international strategy.

After an initial attempt to acquire an established South American roster fell through, PlayTime rebuilt its approach and assembled a new international lineup.

The move quickly produced results. The new roster delivered a standout performance at DreamLeague Season 29, earning a direct invitation to the Esports World Cup 2026 and signaling PlayTime’s potential to compete against the world’s elite.

But just as the team was preparing for the EWC, unexpected roster compliance issues resulted in its disqualification, wiping out months of preparation and dealing the organization a major setback.

Rather than fold, PlayTime responded with another decisive overhaul, replacing two players just weeks before the Games of the Future competition in Astana.

The retooled roster entered the 16-team competition with little margin for error and went on to defeat a field of world-class organizations. The run culminated in a dominant Grand Final performance against Yakult Brothers, where PlayTime overcame early disadvantages to complete the 3–0 sweep and lift the championship trophy.

“This championship is a testament to the resilience, discipline, and championship mindset of our players, coaches, and support staff. From regional setbacks and rejected offers to the heartbreak before EWC, every challenge we encountered only strengthened our resolve to succeed,” said Adela Mae Marshall, PlayTime Entertainment Spokesperson. “Winning Games of the Future is a milestone not just for PlayTime Esports, but for the entire spirit of Filipino esports—proving that no matter how many times you get knocked down, you can rebuild and conquer the world.”

The championship strengthens PlayTime Esports’ position as an emerging force in international competitive gaming and adds a major achievement to PlayTime Entertainment’s growing portfolio across sports, esports and entertainment.

The victory also provides momentum for PlayTime Esports as it continues to pursue opportunities on the international esports stage while championing Filipino participation and talent in global competition.

SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation (SMHCC), through its hotel properties Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA and Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, is leveraging hospitality training to help Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) gain industry-relevant skills and transition into employment. Through partnerships with local governments, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Radisson Hotel Group, and other stakeholders, SM Hotels is helping create a practical link between skills development, hospitality employment, and life beyond detention.

This nationwide advocacy traces its beginnings to the Quezon City Government under Mayor Joy Belmonte, whose No Woman Left Behind and No Juan Left Behind programs provide PDLs with opportunities to gain practical skills and prepare for their transition back into the workforce. SM Hotels has supported these initiatives by bringing its hospitality expertise and training capabilities into the programs, creating opportunities for qualified graduates to apply their skills in actual hotel environments.

In 2024, Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA launched Basic Housekeeping Skills Training for women PDLs at the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory. The program expanded in 2026 to the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory through Basic Food and Beverage Operations Training, providing both women and men with industry-relevant skills aligned with actual hotel operations.

For SM Hotels, the impact of these programs goes beyond training completion. The ultimate measure is the ability of graduates to translate their newly acquired skills into meaningful employment.

In particular, Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA recently welcomed Severino Montallana II, its first hire under the No Juan Left Behind program. After completing the Basic Food and Beverage Operations Training, Montallana was given the opportunity to apply his newly acquired skills in an actual hotel setting, demonstrating how local governments, training institutions, and the private sector can work together to connect rehabilitation and skills development with employment.

The approach has already gained ground beyond Quezon City, with its implementation at another SMHCC property in Cebu. At Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, a similar hospitality training program is being conducted at the Cebu City Jail Female Dormitory in partnership with BJMP, TESDA, and other stakeholders.

Under the Skills Behind Walls program, PDLs receive hands-on housekeeping training in a mock-up hotel room built within the jail facility and aligned with hospitality industry standards. The first Cebu batch produced 24 graduates, with Kimberly Cabahug among its success stories after securing employment as a public area attendant at Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu and beginning her journey back into the workforce.

“This is not just about giving a job. More importantly, it is about giving people the skills, confidence, and opportunity to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society,” said Ann Olalo, General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, highlighting how employment can help former PDLs transition back into the community and establish more stable livelihoods.

The programs in Quezon City and Cebu demonstrate how SM Hotels can use its properties, hospitality expertise, and operational environment to provide training that is directly relevant to the workplace. With hotels requiring skilled personnel across housekeeping, food and beverage, public areas, kitchen operations, and other functions, the hospitality sector can provide practical avenues for qualified PDLs to put their training to work.

The model can also be adapted by other cities based on their local needs, available training resources, and employment requirements. At its core is a practical framework: equip PDLs with industry-relevant skills, provide hands-on training, and help qualified graduates transition into the workforce.

For SMHCC, its portfolio of hotels across key destinations provides a platform to bring this advocacy to more locations while working alongside local governments, BJMP, TESDA, and other partners. Each program can respond to the needs of its host city while drawing on the hospitality industry’s capacity to provide relevant training and actual employment opportunities.

“Mayor Joy Belmonte started this effort with a clear vision of leaving no one behind, and it has now grown into an advocacy with the potential to reach more cities across the country,” said SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation Executive Vice President Peggy Angeles. “As one of the country’s leading hospitality groups with a nationwide footprint, SM Hotels is in a unique position to help turn this vision into reality by bringing together our properties, partners, and stakeholders to help more PDLs gain skills, find meaningful work, and move forward,” Ms. Angeles added.

SM Hotels is putting the capabilities of the hospitality industry to work beyond its hotels, turning industry training into practical skills and actual employment opportunities for qualified PDLs. From Quezon City to Cebu, its initiatives demonstrate how hospitality can serve as a platform for skills development and inclusive employment—one skill, one graduate, and one job at a time.
