Trams, Qipaos & Timeless Charm: Lanson Place’s New Cultural Journey

Lanson Place Causeway Bay, Hong Kong proudly unveils its latest cultural initiative in partnership with Hong Kong Tramways (‘Ding Ding’): the Ding Ding Qipao Tour, set to launch on weekends starting 17 May 2025. This nostalgic journey from Sheung Wan to Causeway Bay offers a unique way to explore Hong Kong’s rich heritage through fashion, film, and historic transport.

Bringing together two iconic brands with a shared passion for cultural storytelling, Lanson Place and Hong Kong Tramways invite both locals and visitors to travel through time aboard a beautifully restored 1920s-style open-top tram. Danny Tse, Area General Manager of Lanson Place Causeway Bay, expressed his excitement:

“Our collaboration with Hong Kong Tramways is a delightful experience, as we come together to weave the rich narratives of Hong Kong through a contemporary perspective. Our hotel is proud to partner with like-minded individuals and organisations within our community to craft engaging offerings that honour our city’s vibrant heritage and create unique travel stories. We warmly invite everyone to join us on this extraordinary adventure, where the elegance of the past meets the energy of the present.”

At the heart of the experience is the qipao—a traditional Chinese dress that flourished in popularity in 1960s Hong Kong following the arrival of Shanghainese tailors. Participants can rent their own qipao from renowned boutique Yan Shang Kee in Central, which offers styles for women, men, and children, making it an ideal experience for couples, families, and friends alike.

Following their transformation, guests will board the TramOramic Tour at 4:15 PM from the Western Market Terminus and glide through the city’s bustling streets in vintage style. The final stop: Lanson Place’s Salon Lanson, located right next to the Causeway Bay Terminus. Here, participants can toast to the past with a special cocktail, The World of Suzie Wong, inspired by the iconic film set in 1960s Hong Kong.
