SM Hotels Opens the Gateway to Philippine Gastronomy

SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation Champions Regional Culinary Heritage in Support of the Department of Tourism’s Food and Gastronomy Tourism Roadmap.

Food has always been one of the most meaningful ways to experience a destination. Beyond satisfying the palate, it tells the story of a place—its history, people, traditions, and way of life. Recognizing this, SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) brings together the distinct flavors and stories of the country’s regions through “Gateway to Gastronomy,” a group-wide campaign that transforms every stay into an authentic culinary journey.

Championed by SMHCC, the campaign supports the Department of Tourism’s Food and Gastronomy Tourism Roadmap 2024–2029, which aims to position the Philippines as a leading gastronomic destination in Southeast Asia by promoting regional cuisines, strengthening partnerships with the hospitality sector, championing locally sourced ingredients, and creating immersive culinary experiences for travelers.

“Gateway to Gastronomy” positions SMHCC’s hotels as immersive spaces where guests can explore the culture, history, communities, and traditions that have shaped Filipino cuisine. Across its portfolio, each property interprets its culinary heritage through the lens of its destination, inviting guests to discover not only what Filipinos eat, but also why these flavors matter.

“Every destination has a story to tell, and food is one of its most powerful storytellers,” said Leah Magallanes, Vice President for Quality and Sustainability at SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation. “Through Gateway to Gastronomy, we celebrate the richness of our local culinary traditions while supporting the Department of Tourism’s vision of making Philippine gastronomy a compelling reason to travel. Beyond offering memorable dining experiences, this campaign strengthens our partnerships with local farmers, fisherfolk, artisans, and food producers, helping preserve regional food traditions while creating opportunities for the communities that keep these culinary legacies alive.”

Taal Vista Hotel’s “Mga Bayan ng mga Bayani: A Culinary Heritage Journey” celebrates Philippine history through heritage-inspired dishes, showcasing regional flavors and culinary traditions that honor the people, places, and stories behind the nation’s rich gastronomic heritage.

At Taal Vista Hotel, “Mga Bayan ng mga Bayani: A Culinary Heritage Journey” brings Philippine history to the table through dishes such as Pansit Canton, Lechon Manok sa Saha, and Tinola ni Tandang Sora, inspired by Filipino heroes and complemented by regional specialties from Laguna, Batangas, Tarlac, and Pampanga. Every dish connects guests to the people, places, and stories that have shaped the nation’s culinary heritage, transforming each meal into a meaningful journey through Philippine history.

Meanwhile, Pico Sands Hotel’s “Lasang Lokal, Proudly Pico” traces the journey of local ingredients from source to plate. Through stories such as “From Coast to Cove,” guests discover fresh catches like lapu-lapu and pusit, transformed into elevated coastal dishes while celebrating Batangas’ fishing communities, local producers, and sustainable sourcing. By highlighting the people behind every ingredient, the initiative deepens guests’ appreciation for the connection between responsible sourcing, local livelihoods, and exceptional dining.

In Central Luzon, Park Inn by Radisson Clark’s “Pamangan Kapampangan” showcases Pampanga’s culinary legacy through beloved dishes such as Sisig, Bringhe, and Lelut Balatong, while highlighting the artisans, home cooks, and communities that have preserved generations of Kapampangan culinary traditions. The experience encourages guests to discover why Pampanga continues to be recognized as the country’s culinary capital.

Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA’s “The QC Table” highlights Quezon City’s vibrant food culture with iconic local favorites, including its signature beef pares, celebrating the flavors and culinary traditions that define one of the country’s most dynamic dining destinations.

At Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA, “The QC Table” celebrates Quezon City’s vibrant food culture by bringing together the iconic culinary districts of Retiro, La Loma, Maginhawa, and Kamuning—from Retiro’s legendary late-night pares to neighborhood favorites that capture the city’s diverse gastronomic identity. Inspired by the communities that have shaped Quezon City’s dining scene, the initiative offers guests a flavorful introduction to one of the country’s most dynamic culinary destinations.

In Western Visayas, Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo’s “Panubli-on” preserves treasured Ilonggo family recipes through Ani Restaurant’s Heritage Menu. The Savory Collection features Pork Asado Rolls, Pork Empanadas, and Chicken Inasal Sliders, while The Sweet Heritage Treats showcase the hotel’s award-winning Bibingka, Suman, and Butterscotch. Guests can further enjoy The Perfect Pairing, a curated afternoon tea featuring heritage pastries, native sweets, and locally inspired beverages that celebrates Iloilo’s distinction as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy while honoring the families who continue to safeguard these culinary traditions.

Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod’s “Azucar de Herencia” celebrates the rich culinary heritage of Negros Occidental with traditional Negrense dishes that honor the province’s agricultural legacy, hacienda culture, and enduring Spanish influences.

Just across the island, Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod’s “Azucar de Herencia” pays tribute to Negros Occidental’s storied hacienda culture through Kare-Kare de Hacienda, Salpicao de Solomillo, and Papisik nga Manok, celebrating the province’s agricultural legacy and enduring Spanish influences. The menu reflects the richness of Negrense cuisine while honoring the traditions that have shaped the region’s distinct culinary identity.

Further south, Park Inn by Radisson Davao’s “Duwaw Davao: Eat & Sip” highlights Mindanao’s multicultural flavors through Tiyula Itum, Chicken Pastil, and the nostalgic Knicker Bocker, inviting guests to experience the region’s rich culinary diversity through dishes deeply rooted in local tradition. Together, these specialties showcase the cultural influences that have long defined Mindanao’s vibrant food heritage.

Complementing these destination-led initiatives, Lanson Place Mall of Asia reimagines Filipino classics through refined craftsmanship, featuring dishes such as Ukoy with Mixed Vegetables and Sikwate & Puto Maya. By marrying familiar flavors with contemporary culinary techniques, the property demonstrates how modern hospitality can showcase Filipino cuisine in ways that resonate with both local diners and international travelers.

Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate how SMHCC advances Philippine gastronomy tourism by preserving culinary traditions, supporting local producers, and creating authentic, destination-driven dining experiences. More importantly, they reinforce the role of hotels as partners in promoting local culture, strengthening regional tourism, and generating opportunities for the communities whose stories are reflected in every dish.

Through “Gateway to Gastronomy,” SMHCC continues to position each of its properties not only as a place to stay but also as a destination where every flavor reflects a rich heritage, every table celebrates a culture, and every meal tells a story that creates a lasting memory.

SkyroCredit Makes “Pay Later” an Everyday Payment Option for Filipinos

SkyroCredit brings "Pay Later" to everyday purchases, allowing eligible Filipinos to pay via QR Ph with up to 45 days of 0% interest, 1% cashback on every transaction, and credit limits of up to ₱100,000 through responsible use.

The future of credit isn’t about encouraging people to spend more. It’s about giving them greater control over when and how they pay while rewarding them for the purchases they already make.

For years, “Pay Later” has been the go-to payment option for big-ticket purchases such as smartphones and home appliances.

Skyro is changing that by bringing “Pay Later” to the purchases that keep everyday life moving—grocery runs before payday, fuel for tomorrow’s commute, medicine for a loved one, coffee before work, or dinner after a long day.

These purchases may seem small on their own, but together they shape how people live. They deserve the same flexibility and rewards as life’s biggest milestones.

Delivering on this promise, Skyro, a trusted SEC-registered fintech company, is making SkyroCredit available to more eligible Filipinos nationwide. Instead of reaching for a traditional credit card, customers can simply scan any QR Ph code and pay later wherever QR Ph is accepted.

From groceries and medicines to fuel, dining, and shopping, SkyroCredit brings flexible credit and cashback rewards to the purchases Filipinos make most often.

Whether it’s today’s grocery bill or tomorrow’s fuel expenses, SkyroCredit gives customers up to 45 days of 0% interest, 1% cashback on every transaction, and the opportunity to unlock higher credit limits of up to ₱100,000 through responsible use.

SkyroCredit is also simple and transparent. There are no annual fees, hidden charges, or service fees. Customers pay only for the credit they use and can choose to settle their balance in full during the interest-free period or make minimum payments based on what works best for them.

“We’re setting a new standard for what ‘Pay Later’ can mean. By combining QR payments, flexible credit, and cashback rewards in one experience, we’re helping more Filipinos turn everyday spending into everyday value,” said Iya Lelyanova, Head of Marketing at Skyro.

Applying for SkyroCredit is fast and convenient, with approvals possible in as little as 40 seconds. Filipino citizens aged 18 and above can apply using just one valid government-issued ID through the Skyro mobile app, the SkyroCredit webpage at skyro.ph/skyrocredit, or at select partner stores, including Home Along, Metro Retail, Prince Retail, LCC, Alson’s Trading, and Willy & Sons.

AIA Philippines and BPI AIA formalize their partnership with the Kythe Foundation through a memorandum of agreement supporting pediatric cancer care. The collaboration coincides with the launch of AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect, with donations helping fund psychosocial services, emergency assistance, and child-friendly spaces for young patients.

AIA Philippines, formerly Philam Life, and BPI AIA Life Assurance Corporation (BPI AIA), the bancassurance partnership between the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and AIA Philippines, have strengthened their commitment to helping Filipinos live healthier, longer, and better lives by supporting the Kythe Foundation in celebration of the launch of their latest health insurance solutions—AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect.

These new products address rising healthcare costs and the growing demand among Filipinos for coverage that goes beyond a first critical illness diagnosis. AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect offer multi-claim critical illness protection, allowing customers to make claims for up to three major critical illnesses. The products also provide benefits for early-stage conditions, flexible coverage options, and protection that can extend up to age 100.

As part of the launch, both companies will make a donation to the Kythe Foundation in the name of AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect policyholders. The donation will fund programs for children with cancer, supporting medical care, psychosocial services, and patient navigation initiatives, including therapeutic play, caregiver support, emergency assistance, and child-friendly spaces at the National Children’s Hospital and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

Shared Purpose in Action: Turning Protection Into Impact

“This collaboration helps us bring AIA’s purpose—to help people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives—to life in a deeply meaningful way by extending our support to the communities we serve. Through our partnership with the Kythe Foundation, we help provide vital psychosocial care and patient support programs that empower children with critical illnesses while giving their families greater strength and resilience throughout their healthcare journey. We believe there is no better way to mark the launch of our new health products, AIA Critical Protect Plus and BPI AIA MultiCare Protect,” said Melissa Henson, Chief Marketing Officer of AIA Philippines.

Founded in 1992, the Kythe Foundation pioneered Child Life Services in the Philippines, helping pediatric patients cope with hospitalization through play, psychosocial support, and family-centered care.

BPI AIA MultiCare Protect offers multi-claim critical illness coverage, allowing policyholders to claim for up to three major critical illnesses while providing long-term protection, benefits for early-stage conditions, and proactive health support.

The donation will support initiatives such as establishing emergency and treatment funds for patients, providing psychosocial support kits to newly diagnosed children and their families, and upgrading Kythe’s safe spaces at the National Children’s Hospital and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

“At Kythe, we see every child beyond their diagnosis. We see their courage, fears, and hope,” said Kythe Foundation Executive Director Magdalena Lopez. “We are grateful for our partnership with AIA and BPI AIA, whose commitment to supporting Filipino families goes beyond financial protection. Their support helps us care for children with cancer and chronic illnesses not only by addressing their physical needs but also by nurturing their emotional well-being and that of their families.”

Landco’s Philippine Lifestyle Visa Offers a New Path to Permanent Coastal Living in the Philippines

The Nautilus at CaSoBe is among Landco Lifestyle Ventures' beachfront developments, offering residents a resort-inspired coastal lifestyle through the Philippine Lifestyle Visa.

Beachfront mornings in Calatagan, exclusive sunsets in Nasugbu, and an active coastal lifestyle in Laiya. Through the Philippine Lifestyle Visa, this isn’t a holiday—it’s home.

Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves. Stepping onto a balcony overlooking the sea. Spending your days exactly as you’ve always imagined retirement or remote work should feel—unhurried, sun-drenched, and surrounded by everything that makes life genuinely fulfilling.

Live the Life You’ve Always Imagined in the World’s No. 1 Retirement Destination

For a growing number of global retirees and digital nomads, the dream of making the Philippines home and living by the sea is no longer a distant aspiration. Through the Philippine Lifestyle Visa (PLV)—an exclusive program by Landco Lifestyle Ventures (LLV)—it simply becomes a new way of life.

It’s a choice that is increasingly being recognized on the global stage. The Philippines was named the world’s No. 1 retirement destination for 2026 by the Expatriate Group.

The Department of Tourism welcomed the recognition, highlighting the country’s continued efforts to strengthen retirement and long-stay programs through the Philippine Retirement Authority’s Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV).

“Beyond our natural attractions, the Philippines offers warm hospitality, affordable living, quality services, and vibrant communities that allow people to live, travel, and thrive,” said Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay. “We will continue working with the Philippine Retirement Authority and our stakeholders to further strengthen the country’s competitiveness as a world-class retirement and tourism destination.”

Representatives of Landco Lifestyle Ventures joined members of the Business and Professional Women (BPW) Ayala Makati Chapter and the diplomatic community during a luncheon highlighting the Philippine Lifestyle Visa and the country’s appeal as a premier destination for long-term residency and coastal living.

PRA General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Bob Zozobrado likewise described the recognition as a reaffirmation of the country’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for retirees seeking a fulfilling and comfortable lifestyle abroad.

The recognition follows another recent milestone, with the Philippines being named the Best Retirement Destination in Asia at the 2025 TripZilla Excellence Awards.

“These distinctions reinforce the Philippines’ growing appeal as a place to live well, stay longer, and feel at home,” said Janine Huang, Head of Brand Experience & Hospitality Commercial at Landco Lifestyle Ventures.

“Through Landco’s Philippine Lifestyle Visa, we invite global residents to experience some of the country’s most celebrated coastal communities, including the iconic beachfront condotels The Spinnaker at Club Laiya and The Nautilus at CaSoBe, as well as the exclusive seafront residential community, The Residences at Terrazas de Punta Fuego. Together, these beach destinations offer Landco’s signature Life on Vacation lifestyle and the warmth that makes the country one of the world’s most desirable places to call home.”

More Than a Visa. A Way of Life.

What sets the Philippine Lifestyle Visa apart is what it leads to. Among the recognized pathways to the Philippine Retirement Authority’s Special Resident Retiree’s Visa, the Philippine Lifestyle Visa stands out by combining government-backed residency eligibility with exclusive access to LLV’s award-winning portfolio of resort communities.

Through LLV’s formal partnership with the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA), PLV holders are guided seamlessly along a government-supported pathway to permanent long-term residency, combining the security of official residency status with the exceptional lifestyle infrastructure that only LLV’s resort communities can offer.

It is a rare program that makes both the practical and the extraordinary feel effortless.

The Residences at Terrazas de Punta Fuego offers exclusive seafront living, one of the featured coastal communities under Landco Lifestyle Ventures’ Philippine Lifestyle Visa.

The Philippines, Reimagined as Home

“Landco brings ‘Life on Vacation’ into everyday living by creating communities where nature, wellness, leisure, and relaxation become part of daily life,” said Joyce L. Benigay, Sales Director of Landco Lifestyle Ventures. “The Philippine Lifestyle Visa is how we invite the world to live that life—not just visit it.”

At a recent luncheon hosted by the Business and Professional Women (BPW) Ayala Makati Chapter, LLV gathered members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, and professionals to explore exactly this—the Philippines not merely as a destination to visit, but as a place the world is increasingly choosing to call home.

As more global citizens seek destinations that offer a genuine quality of life, wellness, a competitive cost of living, and the assurance of long-term residency, the Philippine Lifestyle Visa quietly positions LLV—and the Philippines—at the heart of that conversation.

The life you’ve always imagined is already here. The Philippine Lifestyle Visa is simply the way in.

PREMIERE Condoms Launches Almost Lovers, a TikTok Series Exploring Modern Romance and Safe Relationships

PREMIERE Condoms believes that while relationships can be messy, staying safe shouldn’t be. Guided by that belief, the brand is bringing the realities of modern romance to the screen through Almost Lovers, a new original TikTok series that explores the excitement, uncertainty, and emotional complexities of dating today.

Every generation has its own love story. Today’s love story unfolds through coffee dates, late-night conversations, unread messages, and relationships that often exist somewhere between friendship and forever. Almost Lovers captures these familiar moments through the story of Romeo and Julie, offering an authentic look at the emotional highs and lows of modern romance while reinforcing the importance of making safe choices.

Premiering on July 6, Almost Lovers follows Romeo and Julie as they navigate the excitement, uncertainty, and emotional complexities of modern relationships. Told through 20 bite-sized episodes released every weekday at 7:00 p.m., the series embraces the fast-paced, mobile-first storytelling that has become second nature to today’s audiences, delivering relatable moments in a format designed for the platforms where young Filipinos already consume entertainment.

Leading the series is actress Karina Bautista, who has steadily built a reputation through her growing body of work in television and film after first capturing audiences’ attention on Pinoy Big Brother. Joining her is actor Migs Almendras, whose recent performances have showcased his versatility and emotional depth, making the pair a fresh on-screen tandem for a story centered on vulnerability, connection, and the uncertainties of love.

Behind the camera is director and screenwriter Rodina Singh, whose thoughtful, character-driven storytelling brings emotional honesty to Almost Lovers. Known for exploring complex relationships through a contemporary lens, Singh lends an authentic voice to a series that reflects the realities of modern romance.

“Modern relationships are full of moments that are exciting, confusing, hopeful, and sometimes heartbreaking. We wanted Almost Lovers to feel like a story audiences could genuinely see themselves in. At its heart, it’s about people trying to figure out love while navigating the realities that come with it,” said Rodina Singh, director of Almost Lovers.

For PREMIERE Condoms, the series reflects a broader effort to engage young adults through stories that feel relevant to their lives rather than through traditional brand messaging. By naturally weaving its advocacy into entertainment, the brand hopes to encourage healthier conversations about relationships and safer sex in a way that feels accessible, relatable, and free from stigma.

“Young people don’t separate entertainment from everyday life. They discover stories, build communities, and start conversations on platforms like TikTok. Almost Lovers allows us to meet them in a space they already enjoy while reinforcing a message that has always been at the heart of our brand: love and relationships may be complicated, but choosing to have fun safely shouldn’t be,” said Karl Mark Villapaz, Brand Marketing Manager of PREMIERE Condoms.

As Filipino audiences continue to embrace digital-first storytelling, Almost Lovers demonstrates how entertainment can not only capture attention but also create space for meaningful conversations about relationships, intimacy, and making informed choices.

Almost Lovers premiered on TikTok on July 6, with new episodes released every weekday at 7:00 p.m.

PREMIERE Condoms is a brand under TRUST, the Philippines’ leading provider of family planning and reproductive health products.

Salmon Launches Campaign to Redefine Credit for Filipinos

For most Filipinos, the word utang comes with a knot in the stomach. It is often associated with financial stress, overspending, or poor money management.

Salmon, one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing fintech companies, wants to change that.

The company has launched a new campaign built around a simple belief: If your money feels good, it’s probably Salmon. Its products are designed to make money management feel seamless, safe, and rewarding—especially when it comes to loans and credit. Customers love Salmon’s credit products for their simplicity, reliability, and rewards, including cashback on purchases.

In the campaign’s debut ad, comedian and host Sam YG is greeted by a burst of confetti every time he uses Salmon—whether tapping his card or riding home on a new motorcycle—turning every credit or loan transaction into a moment worth celebrating.

Utang, Reimagined

Behind the campaign is a broader mission: helping Filipinos rethink their relationship with credit.

For many consumers, utang remains a taboo topic, often associated with financial irresponsibility. But Salmon believes that perception overlooks the important role formal financial services can play in helping people move forward. That is why Salmon has designed its credit products with features that help customers manage their money more effectively and get more value from their purchases, including one of the longest grace periods in the market (up to 62 days) and cashback on qualified purchases.

The company’s customer research highlights the positive impact responsible credit can have on people’s lives. In a recent survey, 85% of Credit Line users said using Salmon had a positive impact on their household’s well-being, while 93% of Product Loan customers said they would recommend Salmon to their family and friends.

“When used responsibly, utang can be a powerful financial tool that helps Filipinos achieve the life they’ve always dreamed of—and that alone is already a cause for celebration,” said Raffy Montemayor, Co-Founder of Salmon. “Our goal is to be a reliable financial partner for Filipinos as they reach these life milestones, whether that’s buying their first motorcycle, furnishing a new home, or simply gaining their first access to formal credit.”

Rewarding Financial Responsibility

For Salmon, making finance feel good starts with making credit work better for customers. That means building products that people love to use.

Salmon is proud to be one of the highest-rated fintech apps in the country, with a 4.8-star rating on both the App Store and Google Play. The company combines cutting-edge technology with 99.9% platform uptime, best-in-class security standards, and simple, transparent terms. More importantly, its products are designed to reward responsible credit behavior.

Salmon customers can enjoy:

  • Cutting-edge in-app security features, including masked card details on physical cards and instant virtual card issuance for safer online shopping
  • Transparent and competitive terms with clear, upfront disclosures to help customers make informed financial decisions
  • An interest-free grace period for Salmon Credit Line customers and eligible Salmon Product Loan* customers who maintain timely bill payments
  • 0.5% cashback on all QR and card payments made using the Salmon Credit Line
  • Attractive monthly payments with 0% down payment on Salmon Product Loans, available at more than 10,000 partner stores nationwide
  • A fully digital experience, from application to repayment
  • Faster-growing credit limits and more favorable terms across Salmon’s credit and lending products for customers who build and maintain a strong credit profile

Salmon customers can borrow with confidence, knowing their protection comes first. Salmon is one of the few companies in the Philippines to earn the Client Protection Certification at the Silver level under the Cerise+SPTF Client Protection Standards, following an independent assessment against rigorous international standards.

From exceptional service to cashback rewards, Salmon makes responsible credit use worth celebrating, giving Filipinos more reasons to feel good about their financial progress.
