MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy Holds Graduation for Second Batch

Manila, Philippines – MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) held its second graduation of cadets on Tuesday, February 18, at the MMMA Campus in Salitran IV, Dasmariñas, Cavite. A total of 80 Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BS MT) and 72 Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BS MarE) cadets received their diplomas. All graduates are guaranteed employment onboard ships with partner shipping companies Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and MAGSAYSAY.

MMMA also underscored during the commencement exercises the recent accreditation and certification of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to the academy as an Authorized Seafarer Education Institution—a milestone for any maritime institution. MLIT’s strict standards demonstrate the topnotch and long-term credibility of MMMA in terms of educational structure, state-of-the-art training facilities, and academic performance.

Former Senator Manny Pacquiao graced the graduation as the event’s keynote speaker. “The world is watching. Every ship you step on, every journey you take, you carry the Filipino name.

Members of diplomatic corps from different countries, local government officers, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) representatives, and invited representatives from the shipping industry also graced the graduation.

MMMA Class of 2025
Over the Horizon: Filipino Mariners Ready for the Brave New Maritime World

Inaugurated in 2018, MMMA offers an extraordinary learning experience to accelerate cadets’ careers in the global maritime industry.

MMMA’s second batch completed three years of in-campus education and a year of onboard training on international vessels. The learning and training onboard advances cadets’ technical and leadership skills and competencies to prepare them as world-class maritime professionals. Work immersion plays a vital role in providing cadets with the opportunity to become familiar with their workplace—the international vessels.

Among the graduates, 11 were under full scholarships, a program made possible through the support of shipping companies, maritime organizations, and Homer Foundation Inc. (HFI).
