Pico de Loro warmly welcomed the holiday season with a heartfelt Christmas tree lighting ceremony attended by key figures including Chairwoman Elizabeth T. Sy, President Rita Dy, SM Leisure & Resort Residences Business Unit Head Shirley Ong, Head of Design and Planning Harvey Sy, General Manager Maxi Gavino, and SM Hotels & Conventions Corp. executives Peggy Angeles and Cathy Nepomuceno, alongside media friends, members, and guests.
GM Maxi Gavino shared the event’s inspiring theme, #FeelTheHolidaySparkle, saying, “Our inspiration comes from the mangroves — nature’s quiet protectors — which bring life and light to their surroundings. When mangroves thrive, they become home to fireflies — tiny sparks that illuminate the night, reminding us that even the smallest lights can create something truly wondrous together.”

True to Pico de Loro’s dedication to marine conservation and sustainability, the Christmas trees around the cove were decorated with eco-friendly ornaments, showcasing the property’s environmental efforts.
The creative and eco-conscious CRAFTmas team transformed Pico de Loro Beach & Country Club and Pico Sands Hotel into a festive holiday setting. Led by Housekeeping Manager Renante Navarro and Housekeeping Supervisor for Sustainability and Decorations Florencio Garcia, supported by a dedicated team of attendants, the team spent months preparing unique decorations made from upcycled and locally sourced materials like wood scraps, foxtail palm twigs, Talisay fruit, acacia seeds, mangrove branches, mud crabs, and driftwood centerpieces. The result? Holiday décor that beautifully blends artistry and sustainability.
Pico de Loro Beach & Country Club President Rita Dy encouraged members and guests to join the Eco-Mangrove Tour to connect more deeply with this year’s theme and highlighted the Club’s exciting calendar of events. She also invited everyone to the Jungle Jive New Year’s Eve Countdown Party on December 31.

SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. Senior Vice President for Operations Cathy Nepomuceno emphasized Pico de Loro’s role as a sanctuary for families and friends. She also shared upcoming enhancements, including the refreshed Lagoa opening on December 12, Grab & Go’s soon-to-launch We Proudly Serve Starbucks coffee, and the reimagined Club Pico for younger guests — all part of their commitment to warm, meaningful hospitality.
Guests enjoyed live performances by soprano duo The Nightingales and fun appearances by mascots Picoy the Parrot and Tiny the Turtle. The evening also featured a special preview of the Lagoa Restaurant’s menu, curated by Chef Leah Magallanes, Chef Jayme Natividad, and the culinary team.
The Christmas tree at Pico de Loro Cove now stands as a bright symbol of festive cheer and the dedication of everyone who made the celebration possible.
